Deborah Goffner is a CNRS research
director and an internationally renowned specialist in plant biology. She has been an independent research group leader since 2000. As group leader, she ensures scientific project coordination and leadership, supervises numerous Masters and PhD students, and is responsible for obtaining funding to support ongoing research. Since Jan 2012, she is leading a research group entitled "Environment, Plants and Societies" at the CNRS UMI ESS "Environment, Health, and Societies". She is geographically based at the Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, Senegal and Stockholm University, Sweden (Stockholm Resilience Centre) where she is currently a visiting senior
scientist. She is the author of 54 peer-reviewed scientific papers, 8 book chapters, 3 patents, 24 invited conferences in international and national meetings, and 18 invited seminars in international, national universities and
research centers. Throughout her career, she has participated in many EU and national collaborative research
projects. She has also received numerous invitations to participate in expert groups and scientific reviewing at the local, national, and international levels; the most recent are within the context of arid land management in direct relationship with her current research activities.
